Gradient Backgrounds
NOTE: These messages are part of the ATS Ygdrasil patches from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and may not be available in all Ygdrasil distributions. may not be included with all distributions.
The skyColor message only sets a flat background color. To get a slightly more interesting background, you can create a gradient for the sky and a gradient for the ground. The background gradient is created by setting colors for the top of the sky, the bottom of the sky, the horizon line, the farthest point for the ground, and the near point for the ground.
skyTopColor ( r g b ) : the color of the sky overhead.
skyBottomColor ( r g b ) : the color of the sky
close to the horizon.
horizonColor ( r g b ) : the color of the horizon.
groundFarColor ( r g b ) : the color of the ground plane, close to
the horizon.
groundNearColor ( r g b ) : the color of the ground near the viewer.
horizonAngle ( angle ) : how wide the horizon line is, in degrees. default is 10.
mode ( SKY_CLEAR | SKY_GRND ): SKY_CLEAR mode draws a gradient for the
sky, but not for the ground. SKY_GRND draws a gradient for sky and ground both. Use SKY_CLEAR if you
have a model for terrain, floor, or other ground; SKY_GRND mode will interfere with it.
